The Parent Whisperer NY & Ibiza Kidz
We are pleased to offer the “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk” Faber/Mazlish workshop series, facilitated by Susan Nason. Susan has 38 years experience leading this and the “Siblings Without Rivalry” workshop in the tri-state area. She retired from her position as the Assistant to Director of the First Presbyterian Church Nursery School to devote her time to teaching compassionate and effective parenting techniques and skills to parents. She brings her great respect for the experience of parenting into each session.
This productive and well-designed six-week workshop is a place to gather and share ideas on how to handle daily aspects of parenting – whether or not you are currently having parenting issues. Participants will be led through exercises which work on developing skills to help communicate more effectively with children using role-plays, written exercises and readings from books. The sessions focus on acknowledging feelings, engaging cooperation, problem-solving, autonomy, praise and self-esteem. Workshop participants learn ways to rewrite what Dr. Robert Brook talks about as the “…negative script we act with our children”.
The six-week Evening Workshop will take place on Mondays; each session meets for 1.5hrs.
- Dates: October 15, 22, 29, November 19, 26, December 3. (If everyone who signs up can do 11/12 – Veterans Day, we will meet on that Monday instead of 12/3.)
- Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
- Location: Ibiza Kidz, 340 1st Avenue
- Cost: per person divided by # of participants; “How To Talk” workbook ($15 value) used during the workshop included in fee.
Class will be limited to 10 participants. Waitlist will be maintained.

Workshop participants are responsible to have access to a copy of the Faber & Mazlish books LiberatedParents/Liberated Children, and How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk which will be used during the course of the workshop. The books can be found in bookstores or online. The “How To Talk” workbook, a $15 value, will be provided for each participant at the first class upon payment in full for the workshop.
